Thomastik Dominant Pro A String (DP02B) — Steel Core
Due to its smaller diameter, the NR.DP02B speaks much faster than the standard synthetic NR.DP02. Because of its steel core, the NR.DP02B is immediately tuning-stable right after being strung and offers very high resistance to bow pressure.
The chrome winding makes it extremely corrosion-resistant, ensuring a particularly long lifespan, while also helping to reduce unwanted buzzing or wolf tones. It features a higher dynamic range than the NR.DP02, although, as is typical for a steel string, it has a slightly lower capacity for tonal modulation.
After a play-in period of about five hours, the DP02B becomes a touch more brilliant and open.
Please Note: This added brilliance supports the E-string, but it can also induce whistling in sensitive E-strings such as the gold-plated (NR.DP01AU) or platinum-plated (NR.DP01PT) models.
Thomastik Dominant Pro Violin String Set (DP100)
The Thomastik-Infeld Dominant Pro (DP100) string set is the modern evolution of the world’s most legendary and widely used violin strings. While retaining the foundational warmth and versatility of the classic Dominant, the Pro version offers soloists and orchestral musicians an entirely new level of power, dynamic range, and tonal color.
These synthetic core strings feature a massive dynamic range: they can whisper in soft pianissimos and deliver a powerful, punchy, and focused sound in fortissimos. Dominant Pro strings exhibit an exceptionally high resistance to bow pressure, allowing players to draw a dense, projecting sound without distortion. Another major advantage is their incredibly short play-in time—the strings reveal their true, sophisticated character almost immediately after installation.
