J. Meinlschmidt JM013 Bearing Oil 13 – Synthetic is a professional synthetic lubricant for rotary valve spindle bearings and linkage joints in brass instruments. It is especially intended for new instruments with small bearing clearances.

Features and benefits

JM013 forms a lubricating film on contact surfaces, reducing friction and protecting against wear and corrosion without compromising smooth mechanical movement. Its long-lasting synthetic formula is odourless and non-clumping.

The oil is also suitable for bearings with lubrication grooves. Meinlschmidt states that the product is manufactured using climate-neutral processes.

Application and compatibility

Designed for spindle bearings and rotary valve linkage joints in French horns, trombones with rotary valves, tubas, tenor horns, baritones and other brass instruments.

JM013 Bearing Oil is suitable for closely fitted bearings. JM013.5 Bearing & Linkage Oil is intended for average bearing clearance, while the thicker JM015 Spacefiller Oil is designed for mechanisms with increased play.

Application and maintenance

Apply a small amount of oil to accessible rotary valve bearing and spindle lubrication points. The optional JM Needle applicator allows precise dispensing. Operate the valve several times after lubrication and wipe away any excess.

Important: JM013 is designed for bearings rather than internal rotor working surfaces. Use JM011 Rotor Oil for the latter. Follow the instrument manufacturer's maintenance guidance and the lubricant packaging instructions.
