Thomastik Dominant Pro D String (DP03) — Aluminum Wound
For musicians who prefer a larger D-string diameter, the aluminum-wound NR.DP03 offers an excellent alternative to the thinner NR.DP03A (silver-wound). Its diameter sits perfectly between the DOMINANT PRO® A and G strings.
The tonal characteristics of the NR.DP03 are very similar to those of the silver-wound NR.DP03A. However, the bow noise of the aluminum-wound string is slightly coarser. In return, the string delivers a more direct response, along with increased brilliance and enhanced projection capabilities.
Recommendation: If you prefer the haptic feel of a thicker string under your left-hand fingers, the NR.DP03 is the ideal choice for you.
Thomastik Dominant Pro Violin String Set (DP100)
The Thomastik-Infeld Dominant Pro (DP100) string set is the modern evolution of the world’s most legendary and widely used violin strings. While retaining the foundational warmth and versatility of the classic Dominant, the Pro version offers soloists and orchestral musicians an entirely new level of power, dynamic range, and tonal color.
These synthetic core strings feature a massive dynamic range: they can whisper in soft pianissimos and deliver a powerful, punchy, and focused sound in fortissimos. Dominant Pro strings exhibit an exceptionally high resistance to bow pressure, allowing players to draw a dense, projecting sound without distortion. Another major advantage is their incredibly short play-in time—the strings reveal their true, sophisticated character almost immediately after installation.
