YBRATO ReedReflector Standard Edition Gold Lacquer is a professional alto saxophone ligature designed and manufactured in Germany. Its construction features a precision-engineered ReedReflector element developed for secure reed positioning, responsive articulation and efficient vibration transfer. The ligature is available in separate sizes for hard rubber and metal mouthpieces.

Sound and playing characteristics

The ligature forms an important connection between the reed and the saxophone mouthpiece. Its clamping design and contact area can influence reed response, articulation and the playing experience.

The YBRATO ReedReflector features a solid reflector element with two longitudinal rails that make contact with the reed. This design reduces the contact area while maintaining secure reed positioning.

According to the manufacturer, the construction supports free reed vibration, rich overtones and effective sound projection. Actual results depend on the combination of mouthpiece, reed, instrument and playing technique.

What makes the ReedReflector special? Its precision-engineered reflector with two longitudinal contact rails provides a secure reed grip with a reduced contact area. The design is intended to support responsive playing and efficient vibration transfer.

Construction and materials

The ReedReflector element is manufactured using precision CNC machining. The brass ligature band features a mechanically joined construction without soldered joints, avoiding localized heating of the material during assembly.

The tightening mechanism incorporates left-hand and right-hand threads for even clamping and accurate centering on the mouthpiece. An ergonomically knurled adjustment screw allows comfortable and precise control of the clamping force.

The Gold Lacquer version features a gold-coloured lacquer finish, providing an attractive appearance and surface protection.

Size selection and compatibility

The YBRATO ReedReflector Standard Edition is available in two alto saxophone versions:

  • Hard Rubber / Ebonite – for hard rubber mouthpieces.
  • Metal – for metal mouthpieces.

The mouthpiece type determines the required ligature size. Because mouthpiece dimensions and shapes vary between manufacturers, compatibility with your specific mouthpiece should be checked before purchasing.

Please note: select the appropriate mouthpiece type from the product options before ordering. Hard rubber and metal mouthpiece ligatures differ in size and are not universally interchangeable. If you are unsure about compatibility, please contact us for advice.

YBRATO – Innovative Saxophone and Clarinet Ligatures from Germany

YBRATO is a German manufacturer of professional ligatures for saxophones and clarinets. The brand was founded by saxophonist Markus Maier in Munich. The company focuses on innovative ligature designs that allow musicians to control reed positioning, vibration, response and tonal characteristics with greater precision.

The YBRATO concept originated in 2020 from an exploration of the acoustic properties of reeds and their interaction with mouthpieces. The development process combines historical instrument-making principles with modern engineering technologies.

YBRATO Ligatures

The manufacturer's range includes two main product series:

  • SweetSpot – an innovative ligature featuring a patent-pending mechanism for adjustable reed-tip positioning. The design enables both symmetrical and asymmetrical adjustment to influence reed vibration and response.
  • ReedReflector – a ligature featuring a distinctive reed-clamping design, developed for secure reed positioning, convenient adjustment and efficient vibration transfer.

Designed and Manufactured in Germany

YBRATO ligatures are developed and manufactured in small batches in Munich, Germany. Precision metal components are produced using modern CNC machining technology, while final assembly is performed by hand.

The manufacturer places particular emphasis on machining accuracy, clamping mechanism design, ease of reed installation and long-term durability.

YBRATO products are intended for professional musicians and demanding players who value precise adjustments to reed response, articulation and the tonal characteristics of their instruments.
