YBRATO ReedReflector Standard Edition Gold Lacquer is a professional soprano saxophone ligature designed for hard rubber (ebonite) mouthpieces. Developed and manufactured in Germany, its precision-engineered construction combines a CNC-milled reflector, reduced reed-contact area and finely adjustable clamping mechanism. The ligature features a gold lacquer finish.
Sound and playing characteristics
The ligature secures the reed against the soprano saxophone mouthpiece. The design and contact area of the clamping system can influence reed response, articulation and the playing experience.
The YBRATO ReedReflector features a solid, precision CNC-milled metal reflector positioned on the reed-facing side. Two longitudinal rails minimize the contact area while maintaining secure reed positioning.
According to the manufacturer, the construction promotes free reed vibration, rich overtones and effective sound projection. It is designed to support a broad dynamic range, from delicate pianissimo passages to powerful playing.
Actual tonal results depend on the combination of mouthpiece, reed, saxophone and playing technique.
ReedReflector key feature: a precision CNC-milled reflector with two longitudinal contact rails provides secure reed positioning while reducing the contact area. The construction is designed for responsive playing and minimal reed vibration damping.
Construction and materials
The brass ligature band features a rolled and mechanically bolted construction without soldered joints. According to YBRATO, this manufacturing method avoids localized heating of the material during soldering.
The solid ReedReflector element is manufactured using precision CNC machining. Two longitudinal rails maintain secure contact with the reed while minimizing the contact area.
The integrated tightening mechanism incorporates left-hand and right-hand threads for even clamping and accurate centering on the mouthpiece. An ergonomically knurled adjustment screw allows convenient reed replacement and precise control of the clamping force.
The Gold Lacquer edition features a gold-coloured lacquer finish. YBRATO ligatures are produced in small batches and hand-assembled in Munich, Germany.
