YBRATO ReedReflector Standard Edition Gold Lacquer is a professional tenor saxophone ligature designed and manufactured in Germany. Its precision-engineered reflector, reduced reed-contact area and finely adjustable clamping mechanism provide secure reed positioning and are designed to support a responsive playing experience. Separate sizes are available for hard rubber and metal mouthpieces.
Sound and playing characteristics
The ligature holds the reed against the tenor saxophone mouthpiece. The design and contact area of the clamping system can influence reed response, articulation and playing feel.
The YBRATO ReedReflector features a solid, precision CNC-milled reflector positioned on the reed-contact side. Its two longitudinal rails reduce the contact area while maintaining a secure grip on the reed.
According to the manufacturer, this construction promotes free reed vibration, rich overtones and effective sound projection. The ligature is designed to support a wide dynamic range, from delicate pianissimo playing to powerful performance.
Actual tonal results depend on the combination of mouthpiece, reed, saxophone and playing technique.
ReedReflector key feature: a precision-machined metal reflector with two longitudinal contact rails provides secure reed positioning while minimizing the contact area. The construction is designed for responsive playing and reduced reed vibration damping.
Construction and materials
The brass ligature band features a rolled and mechanically bolted construction without soldered joints. This manufacturing method avoids localized heating of the material during soldering.
The solid reflector is precision CNC-milled from metal and positioned on the reed-facing side. Two longitudinal rails provide secure contact with the reed while minimizing its contact area.
The tightening mechanism uses left-hand and right-hand threads to provide even clamping and accurate centering on the mouthpiece. An ergonomically knurled adjustment screw allows convenient reed installation, replacement and precise adjustment of clamping pressure.
The Gold Lacquer edition features a gold-coloured lacquer finish. YBRATO ligatures are produced in small batches and hand-assembled in Munich, Germany.

Size selection and compatibility
The YBRATO ReedReflector Gold Lacquer for tenor saxophone is available in two versions:
- Hard Rubber / Ebonite – for hard rubber mouthpieces, including many Selmer, Meyer and Vandoren models.
- Metal – for metal tenor saxophone mouthpieces.
The two versions differ in size and should be selected according to the external dimensions and shape of the mouthpiece.
Please note: select the appropriate mouthpiece type from the product options before ordering. Hard rubber and metal mouthpiece ligatures are not universally interchangeable. If you are unsure about compatibility, please contact us for advice.
