The history of Jakob Winter spans more than 130 years. Historically, entire artisan towns emerged in Europe, and particularly in Germany. The town of Nauheim, south of Frankfurt, became one such hub. Famous brands known to musicians worldwide, such as Keilwerth, Schreiber, and Pucher, were born here. However, the Jakob Winter manufactory became an equally legendary name.
Jakob Winter has focused its activities on producing high-quality modern cases for musical instruments. By following strict artisanal traditions while constantly implementing innovations, Jakob Winter has been a leading European manufacturer for decades.
A vital part of the product line consists of violin cases. The selection offers musicians great variety: from traditional handmade wooden cases to unique, eco-friendly natural fiber cases from the GreenLine series.
For over 15 years, Jakob Winter has been producing environmentally friendly cases made from natural plant fibers (hemp, flax, kenaf). The production is 100% "Made in Germany." GreenLine cases are extremely lightweight and offer outstanding thermal insulation. Due to the natural properties of these materials, they are highly resistant to temperature fluctuations, keeping the instrument safe in both extreme cold and under direct sunlight.
Innovative GreenLine series casesLike the GreenLine series, these cases are produced in the Ore Mountains (Erzgebirge, Germany). Felt cases are exceptionally light and warm, providing excellent protection in cold climates. Unlike traditional soft felt, the felt here is pressed under high pressure to create a rigid, stable, and impact-resistant shell.
Warm and lightweight pressed felt casesProduced under the Jakob Winter-Eastman brand, these cases offer an elegant, modern look and excellent weather sealing. While fiberglass is very durable and highly impact-resistant, these cases have lower thermal capacity. In extremely cold winters, your violin might require an additional insulated cover.
Durable fiberglass violin casesMade from high-impact technical thermoplastic resin (ABS), these cases feature a streamlined design and plush velvet interiors. However, ABS should not be left in direct sunlight for long periods, as the material can slowly degrade over time, and it offers less thermal insulation compared to wood or natural fibers.
Modern ABS plastic casesThis category ranges from affordable lightweight student models (JWC 3016) made of hard foam to the professional JW 3023 series. The latter are handmade in Germany by experienced craftsmen, featuring a traditional wooden shell and a water-repellent Cordura nylon cover, combining classic elegance with everyday durability.
Classic cases with water-repellent nylon coversThese luxury cases are handmade by German masters using premium materials. They feature a 5-layer plywood shell, premium satin velvet interiors, and genuine leather handles.
