The new Evah Pirazzi Gold cello strings were first presented at the Frankfurter Musikmesse 2014 music trade fair.
According to Pirastro company executives, the goal for the specialists and musicians who participated in the development and testing of the new strings was to introduce a new set of synthetic strings to the musical world that could surpass the popular Larsen cello strings, as well as the combination of A + D Larsen Soloist and G + C Thomastik Spirocore Tungsten strings.
The new strings have a multi-filament core made of modern synthetic fibers. The treble strings have chrome steel winding, while the bass strings have tungsten winding.
This combination gives the instrument a bright golden tone, deep richness, and powerful sound from the lowest notes to the very top.
The rich dynamic range of the new strings allows an experienced cellist to express the subtlest nuances in the quietest passages, as well as to create a powerful sound when playing fortissimo. The strings respond instantly throughout the entire dynamic range.
Each Evah Pirazzi Gold string has its own individual character, while interacting with each other to produce wonderfully harmonious chords.
The warmth and silvery sound will satisfy the expectations of soloists.
Charm, brilliance, and ease — these are the epithets used to characterize the D string.
The smooth transition to the bass strings brings an impression of sound development and expansion, similar to a glow. The chord is completed by a bright and resonant C with a direct and focused sound, giving the chord's tone inspiration and powerful completeness.
One of the first to test the strings was the renowned Swedish cellist Frans Helmerson. This is how he commented on the strings:
"The new Evah Pirazzi Gold set has brought the best qualities to my instrument — focus, warmth, and a wonderfully rich palette of colors in all registers, as well as maintaining a clear response from the instrument!"
Before recommending the new strings to customers, the company decided to play it safe and enlist the opinion of a musician it trusts, as do most Russian cellists. The first set of new Evah Pirazzi Gold cello strings was given with great pleasure to the outstanding French cellist Marc Drobinsky.
Marc Drobinsky is one of the best representatives of the Russian cello school. He also enjoys coming to Russia for concert tours once or more a year. His soft and elegant playing style and the voice of his wonderful instrument are so individual that his performance can be recognized by the first sounds not only by a professional musician but also by an ordinary listener.
Until recently, Drobinsky played on English Rostanvo cello strings. Of course, he has tried various strings throughout his career, including Larsen, but Larsen seemed too soft for his fingers. He found Rostanvo strings for himself some time ago and has been playing on this brand for many years.
Recently, in a phone conversation, Marc reported that he had finally installed the new Pirastro strings on his cello and was ready to share his impressions.
"I really liked the strings. I started changing them one by one. The C string is still the old one for now, but the others have settled in and are perfect for my cello.
The strings have a powerful, bright, yet soft sound, which is exactly what I like. The most important and pleasant thing is that there isn't the slightest metallic tint in the sound, and this seemed most significant to me.
I really liked the strings, I can confidently recommend them, and probably when these strings get old and it's time to change them, I will install Evah Pirazzi Gold again.
But I would like to emphasize that the choice of strings is individual and always depends on the subjective preferences of the musician, as well as on their instrument. It happens that an instrument doesn't accept some strings, for example, it doesn't respond immediately or a "wolf tone" appears."
We also recommend that you, dear customers, try the new Evah Pirazzi Gold cello strings. A special best price is offered for you!
